“Salvation’s a great thing ya know… you’d be mad not to accept that offer!” Adam Underwood

As we read through this book of Proverbs we get the picture that living a life of righteousness will lead to blessing and that the wicked will suffer. Why is it in the world we live in that doesn’t seem to be the case? Tim Baldwin explains how the fact that we live in a broken world, a world dislocated from it’s creator, these blessings may not always be apparent in this life. But how we live in this life will greatly effect the next…to live a righteous life following Jesus will lead to abundant blessings in heaven!

What role do we have in our salvation? Absolutely none! Tim Baldwin explains how we are only saved because of God’s kindness, love and mercy.  We have no role in it, He does everything!

As a ‘p.s.’ to the vid, (don’t read on until you watch the vid)… this week the local ministers association voted against the syllabus with the substitutionary atonement in it because the Anglicans and Catholics said they’d pull their kids out of the program if it was approved. (Can you believe that? They said they’d pull their kids out because they didn’t want them being taught that Jesus died to take the punishment for their sin!!!!). So, that syllabus was voted out, and another syllabus was voted in. I am appalled that other ministers who claim to believe it would either be so apathetic or cowardly (and not get involved) or so misguided that they wouldn’t defend the gospel, but instead align themselves with those who don’t believe it and oppose those seeking to defend and promote it. Please pray for me to be godly as I continue to work out how to partner in schools ministry when this is my context. Be assured – we keep working to see Jesus proclaimed faithfully. The alternative syllabus is not too bad (it works its way thru Marks gospel) and we can work with it – it’s just not as clear or pointed as I think it needs to be when we only have 5 lessons with the kids. So…God is sovereign. Scripture is still going to be taught. And the gospel will keep going out…and He will get all the glory. Praise him.

Are we entitled to our salvation? In wrapping up these past few years studying the gospel of John, Grahame Fuller explains how God loves us so much that he became flesh like us and revealed his glory through Jesus. Only through accepting Jesus blood on the cross can we have access to God and be saved by him.
